My friend Emma and I were listening to music in the car the other day and “The Kiss Of Venus” by Paul McCartney and Dominic Fike came on and we realized that the song is so good they “didn’t leave a crumb” for us. I created a playlist of all the songs I have been listening to recently that are so good, you have to keep listening to it.
The first song is “The Kiss Of Venus” by Paul McCartney and Dominic Fike. It came out March 11, 2021. The song was inspired by a book about the movements of the planets. The book talks about the pentagram of Venus and uses the term “the kiss of Venus”.
“Other than the Sun and Moon, the brightest point in the sky is Venus, morning and evening star. She is our closest neighbor, kissing us every 584 days as she passes between us and the sun.” (A Little Book Of Coincidence In The Solar System) This song is so melodic and makes you want to dance around in a parking lot with your friends.
The next song that is a part of the clean plate club is Paper Planes by M.I.A. Every time I hear this song it immediately puts me in a good mood! This song came out August 20, 2007.
The song talks about the stereotype of an illegal immigrant, forging documents and threatening violence. It was inspired by her trying to enter America on a visa which turned into a long term bureaucratic morass. This song was on the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack and also appeared in the movie. This song is best listened to when driving in the city (or wherever you feel most alive), with the windows down and turned ALL THE WAY UP.
The last song I'll be talking about that is a part of the clean plate club is Photo ID by Remi Wolf ft. Dominic Fike. This song has such a vibe! I could listen to it on repeat and not get tired of it. The song was inspired by a trip she took to the DMV to get her license and she ended up being locked out of her house. I love this song for it’s many beats layered on top of one another. It is definitely something to listen to when you feel like dancing!
