Listening to music creates experiences. I typically correlate music to night drives with my friends, family road trips, my sophomore year boyfriend, and other memories. When I curate a playlist I first think about who will be listening to it. If you are the friend who is constantly on aux, you need to have these 5 playlists:
Road Trip- this consists of all the genres. You want to make sure you have songs everyone knows. Find songs that remind you of your childhood, pre-teen years (if you are on the road with friends), or songs your parents played on the way to school. Some song choices I made when creating this playlist were Crash My Car- COIN, It Wasn’t Me- Shaggy, Gold Digger- Kanye West, and Mr.Brightside- The Killers.
Chill- This playlist is more tailored to your taste. When in the car driving home from a late night out, or even driving through the streets of my small university town I play my “chill” playlist for the vibes. This is where you get to show your friends some new music and also play songs they know and like as well. Find songs that are popular at the moment and also new music that can fit in with the other songs you choose. Some songs I chose for my “Chill Playlist” were Honey- Kehlani, Easy- Mac Ayres, and Pretty Boy- The Neighbourhood.
Throwback- This is my most popular playlist I have made. I have two different ones, one for childhood throwbacks and one for the 90’s and early 2000’s music. I tailored this playlist for others but also myself, A lot of people my age or around my age grew up listening to the music I have in each of these playlists. Some songs I chose for this playlist are Imma Be- Black Eyed Peas, No One- Alicia Keys, Pretty Girl Rock- Kerri Hilson.
Friend Group Favorites- This playlist is for all of your friends! One thing I alway do when creating a playlist for my friends is make it collaborative so that they can all put songs they enjoy or songs that we listen to together. Typically this is my most played playlist when my friends are in the car together. Some songs I have on my friends playlist Rhiannon- Fleetwood Mac, PCH- Jaden, and Helen- Oliver Malcolm.
Hype- This is a very versatile playlist. It can be used for many different occasions. I personally use it when I am getting ready in the mornings, having get togethers with my friends, or working out. This is more tailored to your taste. You can add all different genres in this and it will all blend together because it is all pump up music. Some songs I suggest for this playlist would be THE SCOTTS- THE SCOTTS, New Freezer- Rich The Kid, and POWER- Kanye West.
